Transformer in Wind and Hydroelectric Power Integration

In wind farms and hydroelectric stations, Huawan transformers step up generated low-voltage power to 35 kV using compact substation transformers. Power is transmitted via collection lines to a main step-up substation, then delivered to the grid through high-voltage lines, ensuring efficient, low-loss integration.

Advantages of Transformer in Wind and Hydroelectric Power Integration

High Efficiency & Low Losses

Huawan transformers adopt optimized core designs and advanced winding structures, achieving no-load losses as low as 30% below standard limits and total efficiency up to 99.49%, reducing energy waste during renewable power transmission.

Reliable Environmental Adaptability

Our products are designed to operate reliably in harsh conditions—whether in high-altitude hydro stations or high-humidity coastal wind farms—offering -25°C to +50°C operating range and robust anti-corrosion surface treatment.

Compact & Customizable Design

Huawan provides pad-mounted, pole-mounted, and compact substationsolutions, ideal for limited-space installations at wind towers or hydro turbine houses. Designs can be customized for special voltage ratings, impedance, and protection levels.

Cases Study of Transformer in Wind and Hydroelectric Power Integration

Wind Farm

Huawan supplied 6300 kVA 35/0.4 kV oil-immersed box transformers for the Anhui Mingguang wind farm. These transformers step up the voltage of electricity generated by 4.5MW wind turbines to 35 kV, and feature a sealed oil tank, low no-load loss design, and FR3 environmentally friendly oil, making them ideal for compact wind tower bases.

Mountain wind power project - 1250 kVA dry-type transformer

HuaWan Company supplied 1250 kVA SCB14 series dry-type transformers for a mountain wind farm, which have high insulation and heat resistance. These transformers are installed in the turbine nacelle platform to ensure safe and fire-resistant voltage conversion between the turbine and the 35 kV collector grid.

Wind Farm Substation – 110 kV Main Transformer

In a medium-scale wind project, Huawan supplied a 110/35 kV 25 MVA on-load tap-changing transformer as the main substation unit. Designed to IEEE/IEC standards, it ensures efficient power step-up to the high-voltage grid with low partial discharge, high thermal stability.
